Are Squarespace's plans more than you can afford? Then we recommend Wix, which makes it easy to build a website without knowing anything about code, and starts at very low prices.
Wix gives you 800+ templates to get you started, including dozens of portfolio designs you can use to showcase your videography work. There are also some great online store templates if you want to sell products.
When we reviewed it, we particularly appreciated the industry-leading SEO support features, and found the builder super-easy to use. Once you've chosen a template, just use drag and drop to add your text, images and videos, and you're done. If you like, you can then head to Wix’s App Market, where you'll find numerous add-ons to customise it further. A quick search for “video” delivers 36 different apps, many of which are designed specifically to help you showcase your videos on your website.
Wix's cheapest plans are cheap indeed, and there's even a free plan. Don't get too excited, though: the storage you get with this is very limited (just 500MB), so you will likely have to pay a premium price if you want to host your videos. While it's more expensive than some, it does have the most beautiful templates of any web builder, and they're constantly updated to keep up with the latest web design practices. So if you want your site to look slick and professional, it's a worthwhile investment that could help you earn more money in the long run.
When we reviewed it, we found Squarespace's interface is a little fiddly to use compared with some. However, the flipside of that is that there's more functionality if you dig around a little. You get virtually everything you'll ever need to showcase your videos, without having to install third-party apps or programs. (There are a few third-party extensions available, but these are mainly focused on ecommerce.)

Weebly is similar to Wix, with one big difference. If you want to host a lot of videos on your site, you can get unlimited storage for just $18 per month. Note that video file uploads are limited to 1GB, but that's still a very generous deal.
Weebly's interface is also very easy to use, partly because it's less feature-rich than some. Many videographers will be attracted by this “idiot-proof” editing, but note that you will only be able to place elements in pre-coded positions.
There are some excellent ecommerce tools, and Weebly’s templates, too, are good quality. Although its selection is much smaller than that of some rivals (with just seven portfolio templates), each design is attractive and professionally built. Finally, the Weebly App Center contains a great selection of plugins to help you manage your videos. A search for "video" reveals 61 different options, many of which are free. Web hosting giant HostGator has its own website builder called Gator. And while it's not aimed at videographers specifically, they should still consider it due to its generous storage and bandwidth limits, flexible editor, and a range of freebies.
At the heart of Gatar lies a drag-and-drop editing interface that we found offers excellent design flexibility, allowing you to place elements in pixel-perfect positions. It lets you add and remove different design elements as required, and customise global settings to ensure your site looks exactly the way you envisioned.
If you don’t have much design experience, though, that might be a little intimidating. Another option is to get started using the AI intelligent site builder. This asks you a few questions about the type of site you want, then provides you with a personalised design that you can customise as needed.

If throwing together a basic portfolio website quickly is your priority, we recommend Site123. When we tested it, we found it's a brilliant platform for beginners because it's so easy to master. Basically, what it lacks in advanced features, it makes up for in speed and ease of use. The theme library features more than 200 templates, and while these are fairly basic, that makes it easy to get online fast. Just choose the one you like, add your own content, and hit publish.
On the downside, Site123 isn't specifically aimed at videographers. And it doesn’t offer any dedicated video tools, or any particularly useful apps.

There are 73 portfolio templates to choose from, which we found particularly impressive when we tested it. Seven of these are designed specifically for videographers, with various design and styling elements that make it easy to share your work. You can also add a basic ecommerce interface to your portfolio, allowing you to potentially sell your work to interested clients.

The website builders we've covered so far rely on templates. That means you're going to end up with a 'cookie cutter' design that will look pretty similar to most other videographers' portfolios. If you're willing to put in a bit of effort, though, here's an alternative that will give you ultimate design control.
The WordPress.org content management system is free to download, and it comes with a great range of tools to help you create the website of your dreams.
